Camping Tacos – Easy to Fix and Kids Love It

For years I’ve made a fun and easy campsite meal that parents and kids alike just love. You can cook the taco meat before you leave on your camping trip, put it in a sealed container and then reheat at your destination. Use your favorite taco meat recipe, adding the spices you and your family love the most.

What you’ll need to bring along:

  • Container of prepared-in-advance taco meat
  • Lunch-sized bags of chips (Fritos ® or Doritos ® brand)
  • Shredded lettuce in a sealed container
  • Pre-chopped onions in a sealed container
  • Shredded cheese in a sealed container
  • Fresh, diced tomatoes in a sealed container
  • Your favorite taco sauce

When everyone is ready to eat, hand out the lunch-sized chip bags, and before opening, have everyone crunch up the chips. Then open the bag, and add to it the re-heated taco meat, lettuce, onions, cheese, tomatoes, and your favorite taco sauce. You can use a camping fork to stir it up and eat it straight out of the bag.

And it’s so easy to clean up afterward. No dishes to be washed, and you can get on with your evening of festivities around the campfire.
