Mom Who Gave Birth in Parking Lot and Gets Special Baby Shower

Chipotle Mexican Grill in Centennial celebrates Mother’s Day this year with a special reunion and baby shower for Adrianna Alvarez, the mother who gave birth to her fourth child in its parking lot in early April.

The celebration gave the family a way to thank the 911 dispatcher face-to-face, who helped deliver her baby from 16 miles away.

Angie Schell, the lead dispatcher at the South Metro Dispatch Center got the call at 9:05am on an April day, and heard a man saying a baby was coming, at which time she walked the family through the delivery by phone. During the call, Schell could be heard telling the father, “Remember, the baby will be slippery, so don’t drop it.” And at 9:11am, baby Jaden Flores was born. After that, baby Jaden made it to Parker Adventist Hospital where he was doing just fine.

“I’ve been the last voice that many people have spoken to, so it’s really nice to be there for their first breath, too,” said Schell.

On Sunday afternoon, May 6th, at the same Chipotle restaurant where Jaden was born, on East Smoky Hill Road in Centennial, Angie Schell attended the reunion and baby shower and met baby Jaden and his family, along with Chipotle National Communications Manager, Quinn Kelsey.

“We love making our guests happy,” said Kelsey. “This fun and spirited baby shower celebrated how incredible mothers like Adrianna are, and we wanted to highlight how much we value moms and all they do this Mother’s Day.
