Your Taxes are really due today!

This year the tax-filing deadline really is today! The last couple of years filers had an additional two or three days, but taxesthat’s not true this year!

Rushing to finish and still need help?

The Denver IRS office at 1999 Broadway will have extended hours, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday. IRS offices in Fort Collins and Colorado Springs will close at 4 p.m., while the Grand Junction office closes at 6 p.m.

Low income families can dial 2-1-1 to find the few free tax sites that are still open today. To be eligible, individuals must have a household income of less than $50,000.

Heading out in the slush to mail your return today?

Thirteen metro-area post offices will accept returns until midnight Monday.

The General Mail Facility at 7500 E. 53rd Place in Denver, will remain open until midnight to assist customers.

No way you’re going to get it done?

If people aren’t able to get their taxes filed by today, they can file an extension.  This six-month extension applies only to filing a tax return, not to the payment of any taxes owed.
