Thanks MF for this post. We are in the process of cutting the cord and purchased Apple TV in December. We kept our DirecTV subscription until after the Super Bowl, although now we see that wasn't worth it either. My kids are very upset over cutting the cord and aren't sure they will get their shows on the other options. I'm not upset about that.

We also have a local HDTV antennae that we attached to the back of our TV. It works great but we can't get Fox 31 at all.

Now I just need to make the call and cut the cord.

We may have to do basic - we love our Tivo but we need to cut back - WAY Back... we also use ROKU, huluplus, netflix, etc... we are getting rid of Amazon prime too. The hardest thing to switch is internet. I do not like DSL at all - NO WAY NOW HOW.

Anyway, other than that, we are good :-)

I've been cordless for most of my adult life. I tied the cord almost 2 years ago though because the cost was so low when bundled with internet and phone. I can't wait to be at the end of the contract to cut it again though! Hulu Plus and Netflix are all we watch anyway.

Suggestions on a kickass antennae are much appreciated though. I've not found one that works as well as I'd like.

We cut the cord about 2 years ago when my husband lost his job. We now only pay the $7.99 for Netflix. Don't miss cable at all. For an antenna, we purchase a Leaf Antenna http://store.gomohu.com/ The local channels are just as crisp as they were when we had cable! We live North of you, in Broomfield, and have no issue getting any of the local Denver tv stations.

We cut the cord in June and have suffered ZERO ill effects. We're not sportsball people, so that's not even an issue. We've had Netflix since 2003, so it was a cost we were already spending. We opted to do the Roku, and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. We have Amazon Prime for the shipping reasons, but love the shows that are included! So far, we haven't paid any extra to see anything! We can wait. We're waiters and bingers, and it works for us. I LOVE not shelling out the cash every month for "live" TV! We never watched live TV, so it was just a waste! I do catch some favorite shows the next day online (or after a week...I'm lookin' at YOU SILLY, ABC!!). It works for us! We should have done it YEARS ago.
